I am a British Horse Society Assistant Instructor from Britain and have lived in the States for 15 years. A couple of years ago I started offering BHS Horse Owners courses to the local riding community. These courses are designed for the complete novice horse owner to the barn manager including all the theory needed for owning a horse.
I found a lack of interest in people wanting to learn and gain certification, apart from my own students who love the courses. So I went back to the BHS to see what else I could offer that might interest people. I managed to get my local dressage and CT club to join the British Riding Clubs, the first US club to join, and set up a meeting to explain the exams, riding and theory, available to us as members. 6 people turned up, 3 of those my students.
I also contacted all the national and local horse papers and magazines to let them know about our club being the first to join the British Riding Clubs - and got NO response to that either! What am I doing wrong, does no one what to learn, progress?
